IRE Elects New Board Members

By: Joe Strupp Investigative Reporters and Editors elected four new members to its 13-person board, while returning three incumbents to the governing body, according to a group press release put out Tuesday.

The elections occurred during IRE's annual convention, held this past week in Fort Worth, Tex.

The new board members elected were; Duff Wilson of The New York Times, Wendell Cochran of American University, Renee Ferguson of WMAQ-TV in Chicago, and Manny Garcia of The Miami Herald.

Current board members re-elected to the group are Dianna Hunt of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, Mark Katches of The Orange County Register, and Stephen Miller of The New York Times.

The board then elected James Grimaldi of The Washington Post as president, Cheryl Phillips of The Seattle Times as vice president, Dianna Hunt of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram as treasurer, and Stephen Miller of The New York Times as secretary.
