By: E&P Staff Goss International has sold its ninth Universal 75 press in Italy in the last 12 months, as well as a Uniliner tower to a publisher in Poland.
Societa Tipografica Siciliana SpA ordered the Universal 75 for its facility in Catania, Sicily, to print local editions of national dailies, including Milano Finanza, Libero, Libero Mercato, Manifesto, Europa, Il Giornale, Italia Oggi, l'Unit?, Il Corriere della Sera, La Gazzetta dello Sport.
Slated for installation next summer, the new press will consist of four four-high towers, a 2:3:3 jaw folder and four reelstands. Purchased to increase overall print and color capacity, it will be used to print 150,000 copies daily and will have a maximum capacity of 64 full-color tabloid pages running in collect mode, according to Goss.
Poland's Seregni Printing Group (a part of the Gruppo Seregni, one of Italy's largest commercial contract printers and parent company of Stem Editoriale, SIES, STS, Sarprint and SPG Warsaw) will expand its color capacity with a Goss Uniliner tower. The four-high shaftless tower will be retrofitted to an existing press at a Seregni site in southern Poland. The tower will permit the press to produce 64 full-color tabloid pages through one folder or 32 pages through each of two folders.
The project marks the third time Seregni has chosen to retrofit a press with a Uniliner tower to quickly increase color capacity. The group installed a three-tower unit at its Polish headquarters three years ago, following a similar installation in Milan.
