By: Joe Strupp Former GE Chairman and best-selling author Jack Welch weighed in on The Boston Globe Guild dispute via Twitter.
After Monday's guild rejection of a concession package, and The New York Times Company announcing a 23% salary cut would be implemented, Welch tweeted Wednesday: "So ironic to see NYT act so brutish toward labor. Certainly would be crucifying any Company with labor practices like theirs."
He later explained: "My New York Times labor tweet a few min ago refers to their BRUTISH dark age labor relations with their Boston Globe employees."
But, as the evening went on, Welch appeared more interested in the Boston Red Sox-New York Yankees game he was attending, tweeting, "Going to Red Sox game tonight with my beautiful daughter who also lives in Boston..Looking to make it 7 straight over 'those' Yankees."
He must have been happy. The Sox won, 7-0.
