By: E&P Staff The Jackson (Tenn.) Sun reported today that it is once again printing all editions in Jackson.
Since last fall, Saturday and Sunday editions of the daily had been printed at its larger Gannett sister paper, The Tennessean, in Nashville, 130 to the east. The move was part of the Sun's restructuring of newspaper and commercial printing operations.
Saturday editions returned to the Jackson pressroom in February "when a plan was developed to do so with existing staff," the Sun reports. Printing of the Sunday edition has just resumed in Jackson, following the hiring of a full-time employee and a temporary worker.
Meanwhile, the Tennessean continues printing the Sun's weekly Homes Galore magazine and inserting its Sunday packages.
"Eliminating the shipping time between here and Nashville will help us deliver newspapers in a more timely fashion to our subscribers and get newspapers on the racks earlier in the morning," Sun President and Publisher Roy Heatherly told his paper, adding that the change enables later deadlines for later news and sports reporting.
