Japanese Publisher Places Big Baldwin Order

By: E&P Staff Baldwin Technology Co. Inc. in Shelton, Conn., announced that its Baldwin Japan subsidiary received a $2.6 million order from Asahi Newspaper Group's Nikkan Sports Newspaper Printing Co. for Baldwin's automatic guide roller cleaning equipment, automatic press washers, super washers and spray dampening systems.

The equipment is for Nikkan Sports' four new Mitsubishi newspaper presses, which are to be installed in Tokyo in September 2009 and March 2010.

Baldwin President and CEO Karl Puehringer called the order an "endorsement of Baldwin's focus on technologies that dramatically increase press productivity and print quality while reducing waste, cutting operating costs and reducing the impact of printing on the environment."
