By: E&P Staff J.C. Penney Co. Inc. said Tuesday it will advertise heavily with newspaper inserts featuring its "biggest after-Christmas sale ever."
Attempting to replicate the Black Friday atmosphere that kicks off the official holiday buying season, J.C. Penney stores will open this Friday at 5:30 a.m., the earliest opening on the day after Christmas the company has ever done. The sale will feature more than 100 "Doorbuster" offers, the company said.
The newspaper inserts will feature "special bonus coupons which can be used on Friday, Dec. 26 and Saturday, Dec. 27, the company stated. The coupons will offer $10 off a $50 or more purchase and $15 off a $75 or more purchase.
Retailers have been bruised by what has been, by all accounts, a dreadful Christmas shopping season.
