By: Joe Strupp Domestic-partner benefits will be available to employees of North Jersey Media Group Inc. for the first time under a policy set to take effect New Year's Day.

The Record in Hackensack, N.J., the Herald News in West Paterson, N.J., and 28 weeklies -- will provide the same medical and dental benefits to homosexual and heterosexual domestic partners of its workers that are now offered to employees' spouses, according to benefits manager Cindy Grieco. "It was requested by many employees," she said.
The media company, which also owns a commercial printing business and
specialty publications, employs about 1,700 people.
