By: E&P Staff Jesus Diaz Jr. has been named publisher of The Miami Herald/el Nuevo Herald and chairman of The Miami Herald Publishing Co. He will replace Alberto Ibarguen, who is leaving the paper to become president and CEO of the Knight Foundation. Diaz, 44, is currently general manger of company.
"Jesus Diaz's knowledge of the Miami market is profound," said Hilary Schneider, senior vice president of Knight Ridder, in a statement. "Jesus is results-driven. He focuses on all our customer -- advertisers, readers, and online users -- with a friendly smile and a fierce determination to find the right strategy to meet their needs."
Diaz has been general manger since 2002. Prior to that, he worked two stints at Ernst & Young, once in 1982 and again in 1997. In between, he worked for the Herald and for the Coca-Cola Co. in Europe.
Knight Ridder also announced that David A. Landsberg, 42, will replace Dias as general manager. He is currently vice president/advertising of the Herald. Alex Villoch, 47, has been appointed vice president/advertising of the paper. She is now director/retail advertising and event marketing.
