By: E&P Staff Britain's Guardian reports that former washingtonpost.com Executive Editor Jim Brady is consulting on Guardian digital activity in the U.S. on a six-month contract. He reports to Guardian News and Media Editor-in-Chief Alan Rusbridger.
Brady earlier consulted for washingtonpost.com, focusing on online product development and strategy. He also was sports editor and assistant managing editor for news at washingtonpost.com from 1995 to 1999, and was on staff for the site's launch launch 13 years ago.
After leaving washingtonpost.com in 1999, Brady spent more than four years at AOL, during which time he was in charge of covering the 9/11 terrorist attacks and the 2000 presidential election. Brady had been a Washington Post sportswriter from 1987 to 1995.
The Guardian reported May U.S. traffic for guardian.co.uk increased by 69% year over year, to 7.5 million unique users. Guardian America was launched in October. The Guardian has approximately 20 editorial staffer in the United States, four in New York, 15 in Washington and one on the West Coast.
