People who use online career sites find that Web-based tools are
more effective in job searching than newspapers' job listings,
according to a recent study by Greenfield Online, Wilton, Conn.

By a margin of two-to-one, Internet users preferred searching
online for jobs to looking in newspapers. Yet, in two separate
online studies of 1,000 or more adults, fewer than 20% had found
a job using the Web.

The study found the most popular site functions to be scanning
job listings, reading resume tips, and checking current salary
trends.

The five job sites most used in the studies were Monster.com,
Hotjobs.com, Jobs.com. Headhunter.net, and CareerBuilder &
Careers.yahoo.com.
