By: E&P Staff Johnson Newspaper Corp. has selected NewsEngin's TeamPlayer software from NewsEngin, Chesterfield, Mo., to present prep-sports content for its online and print products.
Family-owned Johnson publishes dailies and weeklies in New York, including the Watertown Daily Times and the Batavia Daily News.
Browser-based TeamPlayer can collect, organize and automatically reverse-publish all of a region's high school sports scores and statistics for teams and players.
"The more we use it, the more creative our thinking has become as to how we can expand its use," Times Managing Editor Robert D. Gorman said in a statement, adding that NewsEngin immediately implemented changes his paper suggested.
NewsEngin TeamPlayer can extend a Web site's range -- from dynamic team rankings and individual player totals, to searches for individual player bios and rosters. It respects the branding and design of an organization's Web site and creates additional advertising opportunities because it draws more readers, says NewsEngin.
TeamPlayer can export formatted text to print and the Web, even if the platforms use different formats and have different presentation requirements. Its user-management toolkit allows schools to manage scores and statistics for their teams and information about players and rosters.
NewsEngin offers managed hosting, with guaranteed uptime and unlimited use, for organizations that don't want to host TeamPlayer themselves.
