Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert Return With Pro-Union Shows

Posted
By: E&P Staff Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert returned Monday night on Comedy Central, after a nearly two-month lag, due to the writers' strike, with strike-oriented shows, but also some jokes about Obama and Huckabee.

Stewart even interviewed a dull labor expert. Colbert had a number of funny bits, replaying his many faux anti-union statements over the years, then introducing the night's "Word" -- which failed to appear. He ate a bowl of grits on the air to refute Barack Obama's claim that Colbert could not have gained many votes in the South Carolina primary (if he had been allowed on he ballot) because he probably wouldn't eat grits.

Colbert also claimed that Mike Huckabee's "Colbert bump" earned him the Iowa win and showed Huckabee in three separate appearances on the show inviting him to run with him as his vice president. That ticket, Stephen said, would indeed have a great ring to it. Say it fast and it would be: Huckle...berr...y.
