Journal Communications Reports 44% Drop in Fourth-quarter Earnings

Earnings for Journal Communications Inc. (JRN) dropped 44% in the fourth quarter as revenue in its publishing and broadcast divisions fell, the company said Thursday.

The company posted net income of about $8.2 million, or 14 cents per share, compared with $14.7 million, or 26 cents, in the fourth quarter of 2010. The 2010 fourth quarter included a $3.5 million gain from the sale of discontinued operations.
