Journo Network Redesigns Site

Posted
By: E&P Staff The International Journalists' Network (IJNet) re-launched yesterday its media-assistance Web site, www.ijnet.org.

The redesign will allow journalists and media managers to participate in open discussions, tailor the front page to their location and language, find upcoming deadlines and events close to them, and subscribe to an RSS feed for IJNet headlines. IJNet is in contact with 14,000 journalists per week, through its site and a newsletter.

The organization also plans to launch several future projects from its redesigned platform: additional languages, such as Russian, French, and Chinese; classified ads for job listings, requests for proposals, or other items; and a voluntary database of contact information.

IJNet, a Washington, D.C.-based nonprofit, was established in 1984 to provide training, fellowships, and exchanges to journalists, hoping to develop independent news media, especially in areas with little foundation for a free press. IJNet is published by the International Center for Journalists (ICFJ) with support from the John. S. and James L. Knight Foundation, the Open Society Institute, and the National Endowment for Democracy.
