(AP) A judge in Paragould is to rule on a newspaper's lawsuit that accuses the Greene County Tech School Board of violating the Freedom of Information Act.
The Paragould Daily Press claims the board withheld documents detailing the suspension of 4 assistant football coaches. The newspaper argued in a Tuesday hearing that the the FOI requires documents to be released if the records served as the basis for discipline and the employee's due process has run its course. The documents also have to be of a compelling public interest. The district argues that the release would invade the coaches' privacy and would come over their "strenuous objections." Circuit Judge Brent Davis will rule within 90 days.
