By: E&P Staff Judy Miller, the Miami Herald editor, is not heading to New York to serve as national editor at The Associated Press, after all.
She informed the AP yesterday that she had decided to stay in Florida due to ?family events.? Her parents, she writes in a letter to staff today, ?will move to Florida part-time, where I can be near them.?
Miller will still leave the Herald on March 30, to take a job as managing director of Kroll & Associates in Miami.
She describes it as the world's leading investigations firm, overseeing investigations in Florida, the Caribbean and Latin America. ?The job allows me to pursue my first love - investigating and helping people -- while also allowing me to stay near family,? she observes.
The AP appointment was announced last month. "I couldn't think of a better job with better people," she observed today.
