Kaechele Named President of National Newspaper Association

By: Joe Strupp Cheryl Kaechele, publisher of Kaechele Publications Inc., Allegan, Mich., has been named president of the National Newspaper Association, according to an announcement.

Kaechele succeeds John W. Stevenson, publisher of the Randolph-Leader in Roanoke, Ala., as head of the organization of community newspapers. Kaechele had been vice president.

Elizabeth "Liz" K. Parker, co-publisher and executive editor for Recorder Newspapers Inc. in Stirling, NJ, was elected as vice president. She had been treasurer.

Kaechele is the owner and publisher of Kaechele Publications, Inc., based in Allegan County in southwestern Michigan. The company operates three weekly newspapers, a weekly real estate publication, a monthly business guide, a seasonal tourist guide and a seasonal weekly free circulation newspaper.

Kaechele is a former president of the Michigan Press Association, the trade organization representing weekly and daily newspapers in the state. She had been on the board of directors for the Michigan Press Association Foundation, an organization promoting community journalism through scholarships and programs for high school and college students in Michigan.
