I am delighted that Kate Sinclair is taking a new role as head of Opinion Audio fact checking. Kate will be leading our growing fact checking team, and codifying the processes and procedures for Audio that she has been instrumental in creating.

As the first fact-checker for the Opinion Audio team, Kate has set the standard for what Audio’s fact-checkers should be, and has trained the Opinion Audio team through multiple workshops on how fact-checking in audio should work. She has worked across all three of our current shows, helped with the onboarding and training of an additional fact-checker, and has managed a steady stable of freelancers who like working with her so much, they make our shows a priority to work on!

Over the past several months, Kate has emerged as a clear leader in our department. She also welcomed Gita’s Daneshjoo’s thoughtful mentoring, attended several Times training sessions and clearly demonstrated both her enthusiasm and ability to step into a supervisory role. She has also deftly managed the fact-checking team’s time across a wide variety of production schedules.

Congratulations, Kate.
