Keith Knight to Teach Cartooning Workshop at S.F. Museum

By: E&P Staff A three-hour cartooning workshop taught by Keith Knight is being offered Sept. 21 by the Cartoon Art Museum of San Francisco.

The award-winning Knight does "The Knight Life" comic for United Media, and is also known for his self-syndicated "The K Chronicles" and "(th)ink" features.

The afternoon workshop (which costs $100 for the general public and $90 for museum members) will include discussion of the business aspects of cartooning such as marketing, promotion, dealing with syndicates, and negotiating publishing contracts.

In the past decade, Knight's work has appeared in daily newspapers, alternative weeklies, ESPN: The Magazine, Mad magazine, self-published 'zines, and comic anthologies.

The Boston-born, Los Angeles-based creator has also promoted his work at more than 100 comic conventions and trade shows, and has delivered lectures on cartooning at colleges and universities throughout the U.S.

In addition, Knight is a rapper with the Marginal Prophets hip-hop group.
