By: The Kenosha News plans to lay off three full-time employees and three part-time employees -- all from the editorial staff -- as part of a cost-reduction program.
Publisher Ken Dowdell said Wednesday the newspaper hopes to bring the employees back "as overall conditions improve and additional news-related products in development permit."
He said the layoffs aren't expected to affect the unique local coverage that readers want.
He noted that newspaper has introduced other print and online products.
They include the women's magazine She, published six times a year, and online Kenosha Sports Network featuring youth and recreation sports.
Another is "Weekday Report," a late-afternoon video news report at the News' Web site.
