By: E&P Staff When residents in some areas of Louisville, Ky., picked up their morning papers this week they found fliers for the Ku Klux Klan wrapped around them.
The newspapers included the daily Courier-Journal and three other publications, including one from the Southeast Christian Church.
One reader, Bernard Faller, told the Courier-Journal that the fliers bore an application on which "you attest that you are white and not of Jewish ancestry."
They also had a statement opposing gay marriage, he said, and "it encourages those who oppose it to join the KKK."
Linda Purcell, vice president for market development for The Courier-Journal, said: "We regret that the KKK has chosen to use old Courier-Journal sections and other print products for the distribution of their fliers. Apparently they grab legitimate publications that can be wrapped and that provide enough heft to be thrown on driveways or porches.
"The Courier-Journal does not condone the use of its products in this manner, nor is the company involved in this distribution," she said.
