By: Jim Todd, editor at the Richmond Register, has retired and the assistant editor has been named his successor at the central Kentucky newspaper.
Lorie Love, who has been at the Register since December 2004, formally assumed duties as editor on Monday.
Todd, 62, joined the Richmond paper in 2004, having spent much of his career of more than four decades at The Daily Independent in Ashland.
In a story in the Register on Friday, Love says Todd left the newspaper better than he found it. Publisher Nick Lewis says Love has "big shoes to fill" but is well prepared to lead the newspaper.
The Richmond paper is owned by Birmingham, Ala.-based Community Newspaper Holdings Inc., which owns publications in several Kentucky cities and elsewhere.
