Keven Todd, a veteran of the publishing business and leader with more than 38 years of experience, has been named publisher of Ennis (Texas) Daily News and affiliated publications.

“I am humbled and energized to be selected for this fantastic opportunity,” Todd said. “There's a great team of professionals already in place and I can't wait to get to know them as well as members of the greater Ennis community.”

Todd said he plans to build on the solid foundation already in place and look for ways to deepen the connection with the paper's two main constituencies: its readers and advertisers.

“This is a 125-year-old institution and a cornerstone of this vibrant community, but that doesn't mean we can't find new ways to better serve our customers, produce top-notch products and continue to be the voice of the people.”

Born and raised in the Fort Worth area, Todd earned a degree in journalism at Texas Christian University and spent the early years of his career working his way up in newsrooms at newspapers and several consumer and business magazines before transitioning into marketing and promotions, and then into sales and sales management. More recently, Todd has served as the publisher of a dozen daily and weekly newspapers since 2007 being based in Nevada, New Mexico, Delaware, and the Carolinas.

“While this has all the makings of a great homecoming story of sorts, I'm focused on how we can better serve the Ennis community,” Todd said. “Ennis is a great town and it deserves first-rate coverage from a news standpoint. We want to deliver more value, engage and grow our readership.”

As Todd sees it, Ennis has a rich history and cultural heritage, and he notes that Ennis Daily News has been there to chronicle the ups and downs since not long after the town was founded.

“Our job now is to focus on the present and the future of Ennis, and we look to take the lead in fostering growth,” Todd said. “Community newspapers play a vital role in our democracy and will continue to do so in the future.”

On the personal front, Todd and his wife Jarda have three grown daughters and three young grandsons. Jarda has developed a successful catering business since retiring from a career in commercial banking some years ago. Both are Rotarians and they are looking forward to being active and involved in all aspects of the Ennis community.
