By: E&P Staff Lee Enterprises has named Kevin E. Mowbray, 44, publisher of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. He succeeds Terrance C.Z. Egger, whose last day will be Friday.
Mowbray is currently vice president for publishing at Lee, overseeing 13 newspapers. A part of this job, he has served as publisher at The Times of Northwest Indiana since 2004.
Mary Junck, chairman and chief executive officer, introduced Mowbray today in meetings at the newspaper, calling him "an extraordinary leader who inspires success through an exceptional combination of strategic, business, sales, marketing, publishing, leadership and interpersonal skills."
In his new capacity, Mowbray will have responsibility for all of Lee's operations in St. Louis, including the website STLtoday.com and the Suburban Journals of Greater St. Louis, the largest group of metropolitan weekly newspapers in the United States. He will also continue as a publishing vice president for Lee.
"This is such a great newspaper and terrific market," said Mowbray in a statement. "I'm thrilled to join the Post-Dispatch, with its tremendous readership and wonderful heritage."
