By: E&P Staff Kevin Sack, the Pulitzer Prize-winning reporter who left the New York Times in 2002 after then-editor Howell Raines sought to reassign him to the Washington bureau, is leaving his post at the Los Angeles Times to return to his former paper.
According to the alternative weekly paper Creative Loafing, Sack will remain in Atlanta, and will cover "health care reform and the health care crisis" for the New York paper.
Sack won a Pulitzer for the first story he wrote after joining the L.A. Times in 2002, a series with Alan Miller about a military aircraft dubbed "The Widow Maker." Sack also won a Pulitzer Prize for his part in the New York Times' 2000 series called "How Race Is Lived in America."
