'Killeen Daily Herald' Gets New Deputy M.E.

By: E&P Staff Dave Miller has been named deputy managing editor of the Killeen (Texas) Daily Herald, the paper announced Sunday. Miller will assist Managing Editor Olga Pe?a in newsroom operations.

"I highly value Dave's years of experience in this newsroom, knowledge of the area and deep-seeded roots in the community," Pena told the newspaper. "Working with Dave has been and will continue being a great joy and important factor in bringing our readers fair, balanced and useful news."

Miller, 54, joined the Daily Herald as a copy editor in 1979, and was later promoted to night city editor and assignments editor. His previous position was assistant managing editor, which he'd held since 2001. Since 2005, Miller has also served as the paper's opinion page editor, which involved coordinating syndicated columns, the letters to the editor section and writing a weekly Sunday editorial. He has also been in charge of the opinion pages for the Herald's weekly publications, the Fort Hood Herald and the Cove Herald.

"It has been exciting to be a part of the Herald as it has continually strived to meet the needs of our rapidly growing community," Miller said in a statement. "I look forward to working closely with Olga and our excellent news staff in helping to bring our readers the best possible daily package of news, information and analysis."
