By: E&P Staff King Features has announced that it will begin distributing economy-sized versions of its Weekly Service packages to weekly newspapers, beginning Aug. 3.
To be eligible to receive the new economy-size supplement, known as KFWS Lite, newspapers will have to be published no more than once a week.
KFWS Lite consists of 10 pages and 25 features, including three pages of comics and editorial cartoons, four pages of puzzles and games, and three pages of text features, including DVD previews and a Good Housekeeping column. KFWS Lite is currently being offered at $10 per week, regardless of circulation size.
The full-size edition of KFWS (available to dailies) is 40 pages long, and is made up of 85 comics, games, puzzles, columns and other content. Currently, hard copy delivery of the fully-size weekly service costs $16.60/week, while online delivery costs $15.50/ week.
According to the Weekly Service's Web site, the provider has a subscriber base of over 1,000 weekly newspapers.
