By: E&P Staff Readers of The Ann Arbor (Mich.) News received an unexpected supplement to their daily paper this weekend: KKK pamphlets stuffed in newspaper boxes in front of their homes.
The story,
reported yesterday in the Ann Arbor News, said that one reader went out to fetch the paper and found KKK literature on top of his Saturday edition.
Ann Arbor News Editor Ed Petykiewicz and Circulation Director Fred Jahnke both declined to comment on the story when contacted by E&P today.
Jahnke did tell his paper this has happened before, and drivers have been instructed to remove pamphlets if they see them. The paper filed complaints with the police department previously over the issue.
Assistant County Prosecutor Steve Hiller told the Ann Arbor News that distributing such material in newspaper boxes is not illegal.
