Klunder Named Circ Senior VP for 'L.A. Times'

By: E&P Staff The Los Angeles Times has named Jack D. Klunder to the newly created position of senior vice president, circulation, effective Monday. Klunder is responsible for all aspects of circulation and distribution at the paper.

For the past five years, Klunder served as senior vice president, circulation for the Los Angeles Newspaper Group, which includes eight Southern California suburban newspapers. Prior to that, he worked for 20 years in the Times' circulation department.

"Jack is a proven circulation executive who knows this market and all aspects of newspaper circulation extremely well," said Jeff Johnson, executive vice president and general manager, in a statement. "He also has a keen understanding of the Times' unique place in the Southern California media landscape. This is a potent combination of skills and experience to lead our circulation growth aspects."

On June 1, Johnson will become president, publisher, and CEO of the paper.

"I grew up with the Times, so I can't tell you how excited I am about this opportunity," Klunder said in a statement. "The Times is Southern California's premium news and advertising medium, and I look forward to working with the many talented people in circulation and the rest of the organization."
