K&M Newspaper Services Equips Skagit Valley Publishing

By: E&P Staff K&M Newspaper Services, Monroe, N.Y., will provide the Skagit Valley Publishing Co., Mount Vernon, Wash., with a complete packaging solution for its new production facility, expected to be in operation in February. Anchoring the distribution center is a servo-driven, double-out Titan G60 inserter, the 10th sold since its introduction two years ago.

The company also performed inserter relocations and on-site upgrades for four Gannett dailies -- The Des Moines (Iowa) Register, Rochester (N.Y.) Democrat and Chronicle, The Times, Shreveport, La., and Salinas Californian, as well as The Herald Times, Bloomington, Ind., Citrus County Chronicle, Crystal River, Fla., and The News Times, Danbury, Conn.

K-Trak press conveyor, floor conveyor and bundle-distribution systems were sold to: The Tennessean, Nashville; Alabama's Belleville News and Dothan Eagle; The Galveston County (Texas) Daily News; The Jackson (Tenn.) Sun; The Post Journal, Jamestown, N.Y.; Kenosha (Wis.) Newspapers; The LaCrosse (Wis.) Tribune; Editora El Sol, Monterrey Mexico; Pine Bluff (Ark.) Commercial; Tribune Chronicle, Warren; Ohio, Vindicator Printing, Youngstown, Ohio; and Toronto Star.

Inserter control upgrades and/or TMC inkjet labelers went into the Chicago Sun Times; Midland (Texas) Reporter; The Missoulian, Missoula, Mont.; Rochester (N.Y.) Democrat and Chronicle; Salina (Kan.) Journal; Springfield (Mo.) News-Leader; The Republican, Waterbury, Conn.; Journal News, White Plains, N.Y.; and The Herald Mail, Hagerstown, Md.

The Denver Newspaper Agency and Pensacola (Fla.) News Journal bought HL 2000 mini hopper loaders.

K&M also supplied web-reduction services to the Asbury Park Press, Neptune, N.J., The Toledo (Ohio) Blade Co., The News Press, Fort Myers, Fla., and 45 other North American newspapers, including 21 Lee Enterprises print sites.
