Knott Named Flint Group CEO

By: E&P Staff Luxembourg-based Flint Group, the largest privately owned supplier inks and pigments, announced that Charles Knott will become CEO on 1 Sept. 1, succeeding Dave Frescoln, who will become deputy chairman of the company's boards.

Knott has led and developed specialty-chemicals companies within Unilever plc and ICI plc. He was president and chief operating officer of National Starch & Chemical, and executive vice president, Asia-Pacific, for six years. Most recently he served four years as chairman and CEO of Quest International, a flavors and fragrances subsidiary of ICI until its sale to Givaudan earlier this year.

Frescoln joined Flint Ink in 1992 as vice president and chief financial officer, was elected President later that year, and became vice chairman and CEO in 2005. Following the union of Flint Ink with XSYS Print Solutions in 2005, he became CEO of the newly created Flint Group.

In his new full-time role, Frescoln will represent Flint Group in relation to the outside trade environment, trade associations and major customer groups, and will lead the group's further development in emerging economies.
