I wanted to share some exciting news from the Well desk: Knvul Sheikh will be joining us as a general assignment news reporter in January.

If Knvul’s name sounds familiar, it’s probably because she was a fellow on the Science desk in 2019-2020, where she distinguished herself as someone who could jump on breaking news — she was part of the team that covered the early months of the pandemic — and tackle enterprise. Since leaving The Times, Knvul has been writing for outlets including The Atlantic, Scientific American, Vice and National Geographic.

Knvul received a bachelor’s degree in molecular biology from The University California, San Diego and a master’s degree in Science, Health and Environmental Reporting from N.Y.U. The story memo she did as part of the application process was filled with fantastic science-backed service and news ideas, and I can’t wait for her to start.
