To provide process color for its Prosper S10 Imprinting System, Kodak is creating a worldwide network of system integrators to enable part-page and full-page variable color print inline with a web offset press or web finishing line.
The object is to enable customers to benefit from offset's specialty printing capabilities to create a "high-value shell" that can then be customized with process color digital printing inline at production speeds.
The program will connect Prosper users with integrators to upgrade their offset presses with digital inkjet color.
"Now Kodak customers have the best of both worlds to fuel growth for their business," Kodak Inkjet Printing Solutions Vice President Ronen Cohen said in a statement. "The result is more highly effective communications materials."
Kodak color ink developments enable full-color, dynamically versioned content for versioning, short runs and personalization.
The first product to implement Kodak Stream inkjet technology was the Prosper S10, launched a year ago as a monochrome imprinting system operating inline with web-offset presses and finishing equipment. The S10 prints across 4.16 inches pigment-based process color inks that resist fading, scratches and water. With flexible mounting options, it integrates with the presses and finishing lines using various third-party printing towers to add variable data at 600 dpi to offset-printed materials.
Adphos, GSS, Matti Technology AG, Intro International GmbH, and i-Web (Integrated Web Finishing Systems) are the first authorized integrators for the Prosper S-Series.
