By: E&P Staff Kodak and MAN Roland have come up with a chocolate/peanut butter alliance to give publishers an edge in providing zoned information and late-breaking news.
The vendors announced this week at the Ifra Expo in Vienna that they've outfitted a MAN Roland Colorman press with a Kodak Versamark printer in order to inkjet late-breaking news, sports headlines, and zoned information onto newspapers at full speed.
Kodak's Versamark has been modified to handle printing speeds of 3,000 fpm on the press. Integration of the inkjet on the press will allow publishers to add late-breaking news and sports scores at the last minute, as well as variable data such as pricing and contests without slowing the presses, according to the companies.
