Kushner Group Takes Stake in Portland Newspaper

A group of investors including Wellesley businessman Aaron Kushner has agreed to take a controlling interest in the Maine newspaper group that includes the Portland Press Herald, Kushner confirmed in an interview.

Kushner has in the past has expressed interest in buying the Boston Globe and said he still would like to own it one day. But for now Kushner said the focus of his company, 2100 Trust, will be on the operations at MaineToday Media Inc., which also owns the Maine Sunday Telegram, the Kennebec Journal and the Morning Sentinel in Waterville.
