'La Opini?n' Bulks Up Biz Section

Posted
By: Mark Fitzgerald La Opini?n, the Los Angeles Spanish-language daily, relaunched its weekly business section "Negocios" as a daily section that will focus on a specific theme every issue.

Topics will include small businesses, personal finance, business management, technology and the Internet, advertising and marketing, international trade, and the economy and stock market.

At the same time, La Opini?n merged separate entertainment and lifestyle sections into what it says will be a more comprehensive section called "Espect?culos/Vida y Estilo." Like the business section, each day will be dedicated to specific themes, such as celebrity interviews, travel, children, music, health, education, art and culture, museums, food, movies, radio and television, and fashion.

Publisher and CEO Monica Lozano said the changes were based on a 2003 readership survey indicating "La Opini?n's readers seek information about various business topics, including personal finance, investment advice and profiles of successful small businesses."
