'La Opinion' Publisher Monica Lozano Named to Obama Economic Advisory Board

By: E&P Staff When President Barack Obama?s Economic Recovery Advisory Board meets for the first time to tackle the national crisis, La Opinion Publisher Monica Lozano will be among the advisors.

Obama late last week named Lozana, publisher of the largest Spanish-language daily in the nation, to the board that is headed by former Federal Reserve Chairman
Paul Volcker.

Lozano has worked in several management positions at the at La Opinion, which was founded 83 years ago by her grandfather, Ignacio Lozano.

She has been publisher and CEO since 2004, when La Opinion merged with the New York City daily El Diario La Prensa and created ImpreMedia, now the largest Spanish-language news organization in the U.S.
