'L.A. Times' Cuts Back Stock Tables

Posted
By: E&P Staff Like many papers across the country, the Los Angeles Times is trimming its stock listings to one page starting March 14. The move reduces newsprint costs while recognizing that many readers use the Internet to get up to the minute stock data.

The Times' sister publications -- the Orlando Sentinel, Chicago Tribune, and Newsday -- reduced their stock tables earlier this year.

The Times is also ramping up its coverage of local business. On Wednesdays the section will emphasis small business. On Saturdays the section will carry international business stories, with a focus on Southern California's place in the global economy. The Technopolis column written by David Colker will move from Sundays to Thursdays.
