LA TIMES LOSES TECHNOLOGY EDITOR

(The Hollywood Reporter) The Los Angeles Times' highly regarded entertainment and
technology editor Mark Saylor has exited the newspaper. He will work with former
Ticketmaster CEO Fred Rosen, who now heads the events division of Ziff-Davis.

Saylor will run the Internet division of Rosen's tech trade shows, associates said.
The departing journalist had been promoted a few months ago after several years on
the business section.

His abrupt exit came on the heels of articles in Brill's Content and New Times
criticizing the big daily for excessive delay in printing a correction for a story that
erroneously implicated an innocent man in the murder of rapper Notorious B.I.G. The
story, which ran on page 1 with a photo of the man, appeared in December and wasn't
corrected until May.

Music reporter Chuck Phillips questioned the story, written by Metro section reporters,
when it appeared. Saylor, who friends say was already steamed over the Staples Center
scandal, supported Phillips.

But two Times insiders who have spoken to Saylor said that his departure had more to do
with a wish to make a career change. It was not clear who would replace Saylor, and
several insiders said more changes are possible in wake of his exit. Saylor was
unavailable for comment.
