By: Joe Strupp The former home of the Daily News of New York, as well as the fictional home for the Daily Planet in the 1977 "Superman" film, is now the new location for the Los Angeles Times' New York bureau.
The five-person bureau has moved to the 10th floor of 220 East 42nd Street, a spot with well-known art deco design and a long newspaper history, the Times announced in a release.
The release says the bureau "produces breaking multimedia news and features about the city's politics and culture, Wall Street and the media for The Times and other Tribune outlets."
Among its reporters are former Times Baghdad bureau chief Tina Susman, who worked in the Iraq office for two years before coming to New York in May.
The remaining New York bureau staffers are Bureau Chief Geraldine Baum; Carolyn Cole, a Pulitzer Prize-winning photographer; Matea Gold, who covers the East Coast television industry and media culture; and Walter Hamilton, who reports on Wall Street, economic issues and the financial markets.
