By: E&P Staff The Los Angeles Times is teaming up with Universal Pictures to promote ?The Black Dahlia.? The movie, based on the 1947 unsolved murder of aspiring actress Betty Ann Short, is set for release on Sept. 15. The Los Angeles Times and its sister publications the Chicago Tribune and Newsday plan to wrap their movie sections this Sunday, Aug. 27 with a four-page insert promoting the movie?s Web site.
The Times, which covered the murder extensively, is opening up its archives and providing the
Web site with over 50 articles published in the 1940s.
The newspaper is also running teaser ads in print through Sept. 14 as well as point-of-sale promotional cards provided at newsstands.
