Lancaster Installs CC1 eXaminer

Posted
By: E&P Staff Lancaster (Pa.) Newspapers Inc. recently installed the CC1 eXaminer, with a lateral registration motorization package, to preposition compensators and provide automatic register control on its MAN Roland Flexoman press.

Prepositioning compensators between jobs speeds color register on start-up. Register control also holds print register through speed changes, splices and web breaks and re-establishes register after edition and plate changes.

Lateral register was motorized to improve print quality and efficiency of operators, who make adjustments at the console rather than at individual units.

Production Director Robert Krayer credited the system with achieving final color register within 150 copies on five or six leads, with four in color. By automatically monitoring and controlling register throughout runs without operator intervention, the system, he said, reduces newsprint waste and frees personnel to focus on process improvement.
