By: E&P Staff Don Lane is retiring, effective Friday, as a regional sales manager at United Media.
His career in the syndication and newspaper business started more than 45 years ago. From 1959 to 1968, Lane held advertising management and sales positions at newspapers in Texas and Florida. From 1968 to 1980, he served in various posts -- including vice president and director of marketing -- at the old Field Newspaper Syndicate.
After 15 years at National Business Brokers, Lane joined United in 1995 as southern regional sales manager. He moved to the Northeast region in 1996.
Lane is being succeeded by Jim Toler, who returned to United last month (E&P Online, May 24).
