By: E&P Staff Lynne Segall was appointed to the newly created position of vice president, entertainment advertising at the Los Angeles Times, effective July 5. She joins the paper from The Hollywood Reporter, where she has served as vice president and associate publisher for the past 15 years.
Segall will be charged with overseeing the advertising sales and business development strategies for the entertainment category, which includes movies, theater, music, media, culture, television, home entertainment, and sports. She reports to Dave Murphy, general manager of the paper.
?Lynne?s appointment to this newly-created position is a clear message to the entertainment, advertising, and marketing communities about the Times? focus and commitment to growing its multi-media entertainment portfolio,? said Murphy in a statement.
Movie advertising, an important category for the paper, has been soft over the past several quarters.
Segall has been with the Hollywood Reporter for 26 years. During her time there she has created 100 special issues and the Women in Entertainment Breakfast, an event coinciding with the publication?s Power 100 issue, which ranks the top women in the motion picture and television industry.
