Lawrence Named COO of the southern division of Heartland

By: E&P Staff Gary Lawrence has been appointed COO of the southern division of Heartland Publications. A 33-year veteran of the newspaper business, Lawrence will oversee Heartland's properties in Oklahoma, Tennessee, North Carolina, and Southern Kentucky.

Lawrence has held a variety of newspaper management positions including group publisher, corporate vice president of marketing, general manager, and various advertising and circulation management positions for companies such as Journal Register, Morris, McClatchy, and E.W.Scripps.

He will be headquartered at the company's daily newspaper in Middlesboro, Ky., where he serves as publisher in addition to Heartland COO responsibilities.
