Layoffs at Flint Ink

Posted
By: E&P Staff The Ann Arbor (Mich.) News reports today that Flint Ink Corp. will lose almost a fifth of its staff in that city to layoffs following the company's sale and merger two weeks ago with Germany's Xsys Print Solutions.

Flint Ink informed 50 of its 275 local workers that their jobs would be lost to duplication resulting from the merger. Corporate Communications Vice President Rita Conrad acknowledged that the number of redundancies created by the merger was "greater than we first anticipated."

Most of the cuts are immediate and are in research, management, and administration, the paper reported. Conrad told the News that no further cuts are expected and that the company is committed to keeping its North American offices in Ann Arbor.
