Lee Enterprises Buys 31 Kodak Thermal Platesetters

By: E&P Staff Lee Enterprises will acquire 31 Kodak Trendsetter News thermal platesetters, as well as Kodak's workflow and screening solutions. The publisher of 56 dailies and more than 300 weeklies will use the equipment and software to improve quality and increase output.

The fourth largest U.S. newspaper publisher in terms of dailies owned, Lee Ennterprises already uses Kodak's platesetters at five properties, and results there moved the company to purchase the additional equipment.

The group's dailies installing Kodak's thermal CTP solutions this year are: The Citizen, Auburn, N.Y.; Billings Gazette, Billings, Mont.; The Southern Illinoisian, Carbondale, Ill.; Casper Star-Tribune, Casper, Wyo.; The Post-Star, Glens Falls, N.Y.; Independent Record, Helena, Mont.; Missoulian, Missoula, Mont.; Rapid City Journal, Rapid City, S.D.; The Times-News, Twin Falls, Idaho; The Pantagraph, Bloomington, Ill.; Sioux City Journal, Sioux City, Iowa; The Daily Herald, Provo, Utah; Quad-City Times, Davenport, Iowa; Suburban Journals of Greater St. Louis, St. Louis; and St. Louis Post Dispatch, St. Louis.
