Lee Enterprises Launches New Advertising Network

By: TownNews, a subsidiary of Lee Enterprises Inc., launched a new national advertising network Monday, which will provide access to more than 1,550 newspaper online sites.

DotConnect Media, based in New York, is an expansion of the PowerOne Media advertising network. It will serve 1,100 daily and weekly newspapers hosted by TownNews and 450 papers formerly hosted by ZWire, which TownNews acquired last month from PowerOne Media, along with its ad network.

David Teitler, president of DotConnect Media, said the network especially will help advertisers reach small and midsize markets, where there has been little standardization.

??What we?ve gained now is the ability to connect many more dots much more quickly, which translates into powerful efficiency for advertisers,?? Teitler said in a statement.

Gregory P. Schermer, Lee Enterprises vice president for interactive media, said the new network ??gives advertisers immediate access to the power of the local marketplace in any scale ? nationally, regionally or one market at a time.??

Lee Enterprises, which owns 83 percent of TownNews, is the nation?s fourth-largest newspaper publisher.

The newspaper chain owns 52 dailies and holds a joint interest in six others, and has more than 300 weeklies and specialty publications.
