By: E&P Staff BlueLine Media Holdings of Neenah, Wis., is buying Lee Enterprises Inc.'s smallest stand-alone daily, The Daily News in Rhinelander, Wis., plus another northern Wisconsin daily that had not been previously put up for sale publicly, Lee announced Wednesday.

BlueLine is purchasing the 6,500-circulation Shawano Leader, which is jointly owned by Lee and The Capital Times Co., Lee said. The Leader sale includes two weekly shoppers and "substantial" commercial printing operations, Davenport, Iowa-based Lee added.

Lee had previously announced its intentions to sell the 3,800-circulation Daily News, which was part of Lee's 2005 acquisition of Pulitzer Inc.

The purchase price for the Rhinelander properties was about $2.2 million, Lee said. Terms of the Shawano properties were not disclosed.

The asset transactions are expected to be completed in early October, Lee said.

Through its joint interest in Madison Newspapers, Lee will continue to operate five daily newspapers in central Wisconsin, including two Madison dailies, the Wisconsin State Journal, and The Capital Times.
