By: Jim Rosenberg Mactive Inc. of Melbourne, Fla., ended 2003 with a contract to supply a 50-seat AdBase system to Oak Brook, Ill.-based Liberty Chicago Suburban Newspapers, a 230,000-circulation chain of 33 nondaily newspapers serving 75 Chicago-area communities.
The system includes PageLayout for classified pagination and ad dummying, Money Manager for accounts receivable, and PageLink for passing ROP ad stacks to QuarkXPress for pagination of editorial pages.
In all, 25 sites went live with AdBase in 2003, bringing Mactive's North American installed base to almost 5,000 seats at 83 customers, of which 66 are live on AdBase. Covering every corner of the United States, last year's installations represent several major metros and several major groups, and include six Advance Publications dailies.
Mactive called 2003 "a record year in sales" all circulation segments, from 10,000 to 75,000. Mactive Inc. CEO and President Scott Roessler said most customers are lower circulation papers. Sites range from three seats to more than 600 seats, for circulations ranging from about 5,000 to nearly 900,000.
